The Depot Engineering Manager is looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to undertake a team role as a DEM Technician. The role will cover a multitude of tasks ranging from technical investigations, root cause analysis, fault tree analysis, report collation, reliability centred maintenance, in-depth fault finding, procedure collation, process mapping, environmental issues, competency assessments, training, project management, auditing, investigations, and a whole range of engineering type tasks.
Your main responsibilities will be:
1. Liaison with suppliers and point of contact. Material warranty. Technical and Contract review meetings on and off Depot, logistics.
2. Supporting the production teams in not only delivering the final product but improving the product's performance through process-driven change/modification improvements.
3. The DEM team will be responsible for supporting all GWR depots and will work as part of a fully integrated team. The position will require the successful applicant to normally work a day shift pattern, but the role will require 'out of hours' working at times to cover any unplanned/planned events or activities to be undertaken by the DEM Team. Travel to other sites and willingness to undertake further training to undertake activities for the DEM Team function will be required.
4. The role will require a high level of attention to detail, working to procedures, formulating documentation, and an understanding of company documentation processes.
5. Communication is key in everything we do, so excellent IT skills would be beneficial in software programs including Excel, Word, R2, PowerPoint, etc.
6. A recognised apprenticeship and/or NVQ 3 in engineering or equivalent is required.
7. Knowledge of Network Rail, environmental legislation, and depot plant systems would be an advantage.
8. Attending and passing an internal auditor's assessment is a condition of this post.
9. Fully conversant with the technical aspects of the West DMU fleet of trains (class 158 & class 16X) and have the ability and desire to drive improvements.
