Responsibilities of an Aspiring Social Worker:
1. Assist with 1:1 and group interventions to improve communication through personalised methods to accommodate each child's individual needs.
2. Encourage different ways to communicate and learn specialist communication methods such as Makaton, Sign Language, PECS and TEACCH.
3. Work to significantly improve stutters, apraxia of speech, dysarthria, selective mutism and speech delay.
4. Liaise with the class teacher, therapists and support staff.
5. Monitor and report on students' progress, adjusting support plans as necessary to meet their evolving needs.
Requirements of an Aspiring Social Worker:
1. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
2. Desire to work with children with special educational needs.
3. Adaptable and proactive approach.
