As a NMC Registered General Nurse, the right applicant will need to be trained in a wide range of nursing duties, including the management of patients with long-term conditions, particularly those patients with Diabetes, providing and delivering primary care interventions effectively and efficiently.
Effective communication with patients, carers, and all members of the MDT is essential.
Have the ability to prioritize and complete daily work in line with clinical/patient needs and practice priorities.

Job Summary:
Working as part of the practice's multidisciplinary team, who provide care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The practice nurse will be responsible for several clinical areas such as health promotion, health prevention, as well as supporting the management team in reviewing clinical policy and procedure.
Main duties of the job

Duties include (but are not limited to):
* Provide routine nursing care to patients as required in accordance with guidelines and protocols.
* Maintain accurate and legible patient records in line with professional and organizational requirements.
* Participate in clinical audits and the implementation of changes as identified.
* Ensure that any complaints or significant events are identified and reported in accordance with organizational policy.
* Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within competence levels.
* Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for laboratory analysis.
* Provide child immunization.
* Cytology & HVS.
* Wound care.
* Doppler ultrasound measurements.
* Removal of sutures.
* Routine adult and childhood vaccinations.
* Administer prescribed therapies such as contraceptive injections, vitamin B12, and depo provera.
* ECGs.
* Flu immunizations.
* Management of patients with long-term conditions (preferably qualified in treating patients with Diabetes).
* Assisting GPs with minor surgery (if HCA unavailable).
* Requesting pathology tests, for example, urine culture, swabs.
* Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate.
* Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care.
* Chaperone patients where necessary.
Delegate clinical responsibilities appropriately (ensuring safe practice and that the task is within the scope of practice of the individual).

Delegate clinical responsibilities appropriately (ensuring safe practice and that the task is within the scope of practice of the individual).
Other tasks will include:
* Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses' and treatment rooms.
* Participation in administrative systems in the practice.
* Regular ordering of stock and vaccinations.
* At all times, there will be a need to maintain accurate records.
* A duty to advise other nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks.
* Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required.
Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
Support and participate in shared learning within the practice.
Continually review clinical practices, responding to national policies and initiatives where appropriate.
Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events.
Support the clinical team with all safeguarding matters, in accordance with local and national policies.
Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate.
Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.

Qualifications
