Global Payments Solutions (GPS) is one of the transaction banking pillars within Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB). We enable CIB clients to move, manage balances, and gain deeper cash flow and treasury insights through a comprehensive and market leading suite of capabilities across payables, receivables, liquidity and cards.
We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Director, Fintech Engagements & Partnerships. This role is based in London, Canada Square on a Hybrid working basis.
The role of Director, Fintech Engagements & Partnerships has a broad remit covering aspects of business and product strategy at a SVS level and engages with key stakeholders within GPS to identify opportunities for product and/or distribution enhancement through partnerships with external entities in the payments space. The role demands are high, requiring the ability to operate in an agile environment and engaging with a number of internal teams (within and beyond GPS) as well as the external payments ecosystem.
In this role, you will:
* Identify leading trends, opportunities and issues arising in GPS’ competitive environment from both incumbents and emerging competitors.
* Keep abreast with the emerging technologies and trends impacting the payments space and create awareness internally to suitably inform the business/product strategy.
* Engage with external entities/fintech to understand their offering, contextualise to business requirements and value proposition in terms of product functionality enhancement or distribution reach.
* Work closely with relevant internal teams on identifying, evaluating and executing upon investment opportunities.
* Collaborate with Product and other relevant internal teams to define a partnership framework that can be followed consistently within the business.
* Track/identify major shifts at industry/ecosystem level and its impact (opportunity/challenges) for the business and work with sales/product teams to come up with a response strategy.
* Pro-actively identify key collaboration opportunities with other businesses, functions or third parties.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
* Strong understanding of innovation practices, digital and fintech landscape and emerging competitors.
* Strong spoken and written communication skills.
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills that facilitates strong collaboration across business areas to deliver desired business outcomes and objectives.
* Proven track record and confidence to work with both external parties and internal senior management.
* Able to work individually and at a pace on high priority deliverables.
* Display a high level of objectivity and ability to challenge senior management on various aspects of their business.
* Sound knowledge of the liquidity, payments and receivables products industry and the competitive environment.
