Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Health Advisor
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed professional to join the DHCFT Safeguarding Team, as a Derby City MASH Health Advisor, on a secondment basis, 30 hours per week, based within Council House.
You will work as part of a dynamic multi agency integrated team, contributing to a high quality and efficient safeguarding assessment process for children, adults and families in Derby City.
The role will be to enhance information sharing and to work across organisational boundaries to promote the welfare of individuals, families and communities.
We are looking for an experienced professional with a health and/or social care background who has a sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults processes and current legislation, with post qualification experience within their specialist practice area of work and experience of Think Family principles.
Applicants require exceptional communication skills to operate in this post.

Main duties of the job
The MASH Health advisor post works across both children's and adults safeguarding.
The MASH Health advisor will need to liaise and obtain information from our local NHS providers including GP's in order to provide as much of a health perspective as possible to aid the decision-making process to safeguard Children and Adults.
The MASH Health Advisor is expected to represent health at strategy meetings for both Children and Adults.
The MASH Health Advisor will be available Monday - Friday 9-5 (excluding bank holidays).
The MASH Health Advisor will work alongside Social care, Police and Education in regard to reviewing domestic abuse incidents.
The MASH Health Advisor is employed by Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust and managed and supervised by the Assistant Director for Safeguarding Adults.
The MASH Health Advisor is expected to contribute to other safeguarding processes within the MASH.

MASH Health Advisors consists of two whole time equivalents and therefore being able to work dynamically within a small team is essential.
The sensitive and complex nature of Safeguarding Children/Adult work demands a high level of support, both to staff and organisations and the MASH Health Advisor and the team endeavours to provide this.
Working within the safeguarding arena is recognised to be stressful and highly emotive in nature.
Job responsibilities
The MASH Health Advisor will work in collaboration with multi-agency partners to promote effective information sharing and assessment to contribute to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
Understand and interpret national and local safeguarding policies and guidance to inform practice.
Provide expert professional advice and support to staff in relation to safeguarding children and adults at risk.
Utilise expert specialist knowledge and experience to identify risks and issues with regards to the functions of the integrated team to facilitate resolution and/or escalation processes.
Analyse and interpret complex, highly confidential and sensitive information with experience of communicating, liaising and advising across a range of services and organisations.
Own specialist organisational, procedural and policy knowledge in relation to all aspects of safeguarding children and adults at risk.
Be accountable for own professional actions.
Apply specialist safeguarding knowledge acquired over a significant period in order to understand the complexities of a multi-agency landscape.
Demonstrate professional leadership and be able to demonstrate the ability to professionally challenge where necessary.
Be familiar with and able to apply statutory requirements to clinical practice, for example, the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act GDPR and the Children Act.

Person Specification
Attainments/Qualifications
* Current NMC Registration or other Professional Registration with direct experience of working clinically in healthcare.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Evidence of undertaking Level 3 Safeguarding Children courses/training.
* Evidence of undertaking Adult Safeguarding courses/training.
Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience working Clinically in a health setting.
* Working with a range of multi-agency partners for example police, social workers etc.
* Relevant experience of working with vulnerable families initiating safeguarding children/adult procedures.
* Understanding of working with complex family and challenging situations.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of 'Think Family' principles and practice.
* An understanding of the principles of the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub initiatives.
* Experience of audit processes.
* Leading safeguarding practice across own discipline/service area including advising on complex situations relating to children and/or vulnerable adults at risk.
Special Demands of Post
* Ability to travel within and outside organisational boundaries to attend meetings and support staff.
Skills
* Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation including Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Children Act and Data Protection Act.
* Excellent IT skills across various EPR Systems within health.
