Job Summary
We are looking for a Clinical Fellow to join our existing Palliative Care Team, at Southend Hospital.
Recent strategic developments across the area as part of the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) has seen the creation of a single integrated medical team for Oncology working across the three acute trust - Southend University Hospital, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital and Mid-Essex Hospital. The vision for this larger single team will facilitate cross cover, support increased sub specialisation and facilitate individual job plans in line with Royal College Guidance on tumour site cover.
Main duties of the job
* This post will provide good experience for career development within oncology. Although the post is particularly related to the Oncology wards, there will be opportunities to undertake outpatient work within the time table.
* Provide oncological support to patients in Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, working in conjunction with Consultants, junior doctors and palliative care nursing team.
* Manage patients and provide advice and support to other clinical teams within Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and, if necessary, other sites for occasional cross over, in particular;
* Assessment of patients having inpatient chemotherapy.
* Support junior doctors on Oncology wards.
* To participate and attend the relevant MDMs which are key to patient management.
* To provide cover (where appropriate) for colleagues periods of leave.
* To participate in the Acute Oncology Service, and the registrar on-call rota.
* To cover chemotherapy unit, if required in cases of A/L etc.
* Multidisciplinary team working is a key component of the working in the department.
* To work alongside colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high quality and safe service for patients is maintained at all times.

* To ensure that proper clinical records are made and maintained.
* To ensure that all inpatients are regularly reviewed and appropriate management plans are in place for all patients.
* To undertake continuing medical education facilitated by funded study leave.
* To participate in clinical audit, and to maintain proper clinical records for this purpose.
* To undertake administrative duties associated with the care of patients.

Eligibility Essential
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Full GMC registration.

* MBBS or Equivalent.
