Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Director to drive growth in our Civil Engineering sector in Glasgow. The ideal candidate will have expertise in business development, leadership, and project management, with a proven track record of securing new business and managing client relationships.
This is a hybrid role that offers the opportunity to work from home or in our office in Glasgow. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic business development plans to enhance our presence in the Scottish market.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the civil engineering sector.
* Develop and implement strategic business development plans to enhance our presence in the Scottish market.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and government authorities.
* Lead contract negotiations to ensure profitable and sustainable growth.
* Participate in industry events and conferences to increase our visibility and network within the sector.
Client Relationship Management
* Act as the primary contact for clients, ensuring excellent service delivery and satisfaction.
* Understand client needs to provide tailored solutions that meet project objectives.
* Monitor client feedback and continuously improve service delivery.
* Manage expectations and resolve any issues during project execution.
Leadership and Team Management
* Lead and mentor a team of civil engineers, project managers, and business development professionals.
* Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance within the team.
* Oversee resource planning and allocation to ensure effective project execution.
* Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Project Management
* Collaborate with project teams to plan, execute, and complete civil engineering projects.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
* Monitor project progress, providing regular reports to senior management and stakeholders.
* Identify risks and develop strategies to ensure smooth project delivery.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Degree in Civil Engineering, Business Management, or related field.
2. Experience in business development, leadership, and project management in civil engineering or construction.
3. Knowledge of civil engineering practices for substations, access roads, foundations, and heavy structures.
4. Proven track record in securing new business and managing client relationships.
5. Leadership skills to motivate and guide teams.
6. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
7. Analytical and proactive problem-solving skills.
8. Negotiation skills focused on win-win outcomes.
9. Familiarity with civil engineering regulations and market trends in Scotland.
