We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estimator to join our team, focusing on public work projects within the Commonwealth.
Job Description:
The Estimator/Project Manager will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs for public work projects, primarily those requiring DCAM (Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance) certification. This role involves a comprehensive understanding of Massachusetts public bidding processes, including the solicitation and evaluation of sub-bid proposals. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
Estimating Responsibilities:
* Project Estimation:
o Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for public work projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
o Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine project scope and requirements.
o Develop comprehensive bid packages, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements.
o Utilize estimating software and tools to generate accurate and timely estimates.
* Subcontractor Management:
o Solicit and evaluate sub-bid proposals from qualified subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
o Negotiate subcontractor agreements and manage subcontractor relationships throughout the bidding process.
o Maintain a database of qualified subcontractors and vendors.
* DCAM Compliance:
o Ensure all bid submissions adhere to DCAM regulations and requirements.
o Maintain a thorough understanding of Massachusetts public bidding laws and procedures.
o Manage and track all required DCAM documentation and certifications.
* Project Analysis:
o Conduct thorough project analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities.
o Review and analyze historical project data to improve estimating accuracy.
o Provide value engineering recommendations to optimize project costs.
* Collaboration:
o Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure accurate and timely project estimates.
o Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits.
o Present bid proposals to management and clients.
Project Management Responsibilities:
* Project Planning and Scheduling:
o Developing project schedules and timelines.
o Coordinating project resources and activities.
o Establishing project goals and objectives.
* Project Execution:
o Overseeing day-to-day project operations.
o Managing subcontractors and vendors.
o Ensuring project quality and safety.
o Monitoring project progress and performance.
o Managing project budgets and costs.
* Communication and Coordination:
o Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
o Facilitating project meetings and communication.
o Providing regular project updates and reports.
* Project Control:
o Managing project changes and change orders.
o Identifying and resolving project issues and risks.
o Ensuring project compliance with regulations and standards.
* Project Closeout:
o Completing project closeout documentation.
o Conducting post-project reviews.
Experience:
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with a focus on public work projects in Massachusetts.
* Proven track record of successfully bidding and winning public work projects requiring DCAM certification.
* Experience as a general contractor estimating projects and soliciting sub filed bids.
Skills:
* Strong understanding of Massachusetts public bidding laws and procedures, including DCAM regulations.
* Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools (e.g., [Specify Software]).
* Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.

o Experience as a general contractor estimating projects and soliciting sub filed bids.
* Skills:
