The Head of MP&L is responsible for Purchasing, Logistics, Planning, Internal Stores and the Distribution Centre at the Minworth Plant. The Head of MP&L will improve delivery performance, quality output and housekeeping whilst ensuring all internal processes are adhered to and costs are controlled in line with the KPI’s and best practice. This role will be key driver in the successful implementation of a new ERP system (Syspro)to drive the operational improvements. Head of MP&L Job Description Ensure Plant Health and Safety standards and requirements are adhered to ensure the safety of all employees and visitors to the site. Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practise results, added value, and continuous improvements initiatives. Set departmental objectives /KPI’s and review and assess ongoing performance on a regular basis Monitor and ensure that staff under your management maintain accurate material schedules to get the right materials onsite at the right time in the right quantity. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice MP&L vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. Ensure that material scheduling strategy and processes are in place and work effectively in order to ensure material supply meets production requirements with minimum inventory levels, whilst optimising costs. Take ownership of material planning issues that arise, including over or under delivery and take any follow-up actions especially in the event of material shortages that affect production. Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions. Manage inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place. Seek and recommend solutions to overcome issues arising in order to meet production requirements and address operational risks. Design, develop and implement flexible solutions to aid business efficiency, drive process improvements and add value. Support continuous improvement initiatives across the department and sites. Ensure that professional and consistent material planning processes are applied across the business. Ensure that any Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system and related IT business systems (ERP) that are in place are effective and that data is accurate and up-to-date and resolve any issues required. Manage inventory and inventory record accuracy Address inaccuracies in PPI counts Investigate and implement system enhancement initiatives. Ensure the integrity of Bills of Materials (BOM)and inventory accuracy at all times and manage plus control inventory levels and movements Manage the effectiveness of Point of Use (POU) availability Take overall responsibility for the obsolete part process and ensure the business is left with minimum liability and minimal waste Ensure strategic and operational information, reports and metrics are available to share with others in the business on a weekly basis. Report on KPI’s and identify corrective actions to any shortfall in targets and demonstrate an improving trend Own and drive supplier metrics within the approved supplier list Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to forecast, plan and facilitate on time materials to the production cells as and when required avoiding disruption to production. Manage internal and external relationships to ensure consistent timely and effective communication regarding material availability. Work with cross functional teams to deliver effective solutions. Liaise with stakeholders on product change requests and review and communicate the impact on material planning and schedules. Ensure effective material planning implementation takes place relating to all projects and parts. Enhance employee communication and engagement by ensuring daily communication within the function regarding Site(s) performance (past, present and future), and ensure all issue relating to H&S and Quality are discussed and the necessary corrective action is taken. All issues relating to staff performance must be managed with the support of HR. Responsibility for the housekeeping of Site 1, Site 2, Site 3 and DC. ensuring a robust system is implemented to achieve a sustainable and improving trend in the 5s audit score.
