Cambridge Regional College has an exciting opportunity for an Inclusive College and Sanctuary Coordinator to join our vibrant Student Services Department. You will join us on a full-time basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of between £31,569-£33,430 per annum, plus staff benefits.
About the role:
The candidate will work across both campuses in Cambridge and Huntingdon.
The successful candidate will support the college by performing the role of designated teacher responsible for the provision of a high-quality service to support the wellbeing and outcomes of students and apprentices who are care experienced, unaccompanied asylum seekers, those seeking sanctuary, and young adult carers.
Early interventions will be key to your role by identifying vulnerable students and working in collaboration with colleagues and external agencies to develop resourced programmes to meet the needs of specific student groups in line with college and wider priorities. You will be a part of the Designated Safeguarding Team managing concerns for our vulnerable students.
Promoting and fostering a culture of inclusion throughout the college, you will be responsible for ensuring that staff are appropriately trained and supported through the college CPD programme and external training opportunities. You will work closely with the Director of Student Services to develop strategy, policies, and procedures.
What we are looking for in our role:
To apply for the position, you must have previous experience of working with young people and/or vulnerable adults, preferably in the FE sector, and have GCSEs in English & Maths (Grade A-C or equivalent). You will have knowledge of central and local authority policies and guidelines relevant to young adults and be DSL trained.
You will have experience working in collaboration with external agencies to provide a holistic provision for our vulnerable students and develop the college as a place of sanctuary. Experience in prioritising cases, evaluating student progress and data, together with effective communication skills, are vital for the role.
Additionally, you will be confident in your influencing and negotiating skills and have the ability to handle conflict. Empathy, patience, and resilience in dealing with challenging situations are key to the role, together with maintaining confidential practice.
