A well-established civil engineering company is seeking an experienced and qualified Health and Safety Advisor/ Manager to oversee compliance, implement best practices, and foster a strong safety culture across its operations. The successful candidate will ensure all construction activities adhere to health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry best practices while working closely with site teams, senior management, and external regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments in line with legal and industry requirements.
2. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and investigations to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
3. Provide expert advice, guidance, and training to management and site teams on health and safety matters.
4. Lead accident and incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
5. Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015, HSE guidelines, and other relevant legislation.
6. Liaise with external bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), local authorities, and industry organisations.
7. Develop and deliver health and safety training and toolbox talks for employees and subcontractors.
8. Monitor and report on key health and safety performance indicators, providing recommendations for improvement.
9. Keep up to date with industry developments and legislative changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
10. Promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.
Key Requirements (Must-Have)
11. NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent).
12. Proven experience in a Health and Safety role within the construction industry.
13. Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, including CDM 2015.
14. Ability to conduct risk assessments, audits, and accident investigations.
15. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams.
16. Proficient in preparing health and safety reports and documentation.
17. Full UK driving licence.
