Role Overview:
Teaching Personnel is excited to be recruiting a Student Support Officer for one of our partner schools in Newport. In this role, the successful candidate will become part of the inclusion team and contribute to the school’s behaviour management strategy. You will promote positive behaviour and assist in managing student conduct within the Student Support Centre, ensuring a calm and productive environment. The ideal candidate will have strong behaviour management skills and the ability to support students with challenging behaviour while fostering a positive link between students and teaching staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
Strong skills in behaviour management and conflict resolution
Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures
NVQ Level 3 in Teaching Assistance or equivalent, or at least 6 months of relevant experience
Key Responsibilities:
Support disruptive students by removing them from mainstream classes and working with them on a 1:1 basis in the Student Support Centre
Maintain discretion and high levels of confidentiality
Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Participate in the school’s performance management process
Adapt to a flexible working environment
Job Requirements:
Enhanced Child-Only DBS Certificate (assistance with obtaining this is available)
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
Two professional references from the last 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
