I am a 35-year-old man with a love of history, travel, world news, and politics. I have an interest in languages, especially Spanish, Arabic, and French. Computer games are a passion of mine and often keep me indoors. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder four years ago and find that my family and I need support.
I am seeking a self-employed personal assistant to help with daily living tasks and encourage me to engage in exercise, such as walking our dog and accessing swimming.
Strong moral values such as patience, honesty, loyalty, and kindness in a PA are very important to me. Additionally, someone with similar interests and a clever, fast mindset would be great, as my brain is loaded with incredible facts and information. Someone I could debate with and bounce my knowledge off would be perfect!
I would like help and encouragement to develop my independent living skills.
This would start with supporting me to look after my personal space, belongings, and maintain my personal hygiene. In the future, I would appreciate support to organise aspects of my life, such as completing admin tasks and appointments, and helping me to cook and make healthy food choices so I can be independent.
• An understanding of bipolar disorder and psychosis would be a great asset.
• You should be able to tolerate me smoking
• Be tidy and well-organised
• A love of the outdoors is important, as I enjoy being in the sun on our local
beach when encouraged.
• You must be alert and able to assess dangers and triggers specific to me and
my environment, anticipating these to keep me safe.
Duties include:
Administration
Transportation
Companionship
Support/work alongside me with:
• Managing seasonal clothes & correct size so that I can look after and love and
respect my clothing (no personal care required).
• General organising of book collection /tidying/de-cluttering of personal
belongings
• Preparing drinks, snacks and meals and support in making healthy food
choices
• Accessing social and leisure activities e.g. gym, walks with the dog, swimming
etc
• Able to work flexibly with me within the family home and out in the community
Candidate qualities:

Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills

Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
