Putney Vale is a dedicated post 16-19 provision in a brand-new, purpose-designed building in Putney Vale. Our Post-16 site in Putney Vale will focus on vocational training, life skills, and independence to prepare students for adulthood.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Health and Social Care Teacher to join our Post-16 team. You will play a crucial role in delivering engaging lessons that inspire and support our students in achieving their full potential. Your teaching will prepare them for qualifications such as BTEC or other relevant Health and Social Care courses, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed for future careers in the health and social care sector.

Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons in Health and Social Care, tailored to the needs of students with high-functioning autism
* Support students in achieving qualifications such as BTEC or equivalent in Health and Social Care
* Use a variety of teaching strategies to engage and motivate learners, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity
* Differentiate lessons to accommodate students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they make progress towards their academic and personal goals
* Provide a supportive and structured learning environment that promotes students’ independence and confidence
* Work collaboratively with the SEN team, therapists, and other staff to support students' holistic development
* Assess, track, and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records in line with school policies
* Promote students’ understanding of real-world applications of Health and Social Care and help them explore career pathways
* Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities, school events, and transition planning for students moving into further education or employment
Essential Criteria:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification, including FE experienced candidates
* Experience teaching Health and Social Care, ideally to post-16 students
* Understanding of autism and experience working with students with additional needs
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of learners with autism
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience teaching BTEC Health and Social Care or similar qualifications
* Experience up to A-Level
* Knowledge of EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans) and experience in supporting students with individualized learning plans
* Experience in a specialist or SEN school setting
