The Hub is a residential children's home and we welcome applicants with residential experience. No Wrong Door, devised by North Yorkshire County Council, has already radically improved the life chances for young people, many of whom experienced long-term neglect and trauma throughout their childhoods and were likely to have needed to be taken into the care of the local authority without this intervention.
The success of No Wrong Door is built on a multi-agency approach to support young people. Each young person has a key worker who supports them to access the right services at the right time and in the right place to meet their individual needs. It is a tough love approach for those who have had a lifetime of experiencing rejection and failure.
We are immensely proud that No Wrong Door has been embraced within Redcar and Cleveland after our successful bid to the Department for Education to enable us to work with North Yorkshire to adopt the model locally. We are now recruiting to the position of Hub Residential & Edge of Care Officer.
This post will support the Hub Portfolio Leads to proactively provide the support and interventions young people need to achieve the best possible outcomes in life. This is a challenging position suited to a flexible, resilient, and positive applicant. As a designated keyworker for a range of young people receiving support from NWD, you will work as part of a 24/7 rota and provide the stability to help young people develop problem-solving and life skills to improve their outcomes.
You will work closely with these young people to support them and their families using a range of tools and interventions. This role is critical to building relationships and trust with the most vulnerable and complex young people in Redcar & Cleveland – you will ‘stick with’ each young person through some of their most challenging points in their lives.
You will be based at the hub on the outskirts of Redcar, in a beautifully refurbished former care home that offers outstanding facilities for the multi-agency team who will be based there to support some of our most vulnerable young people.
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council are dedicated to addressing the global climate emergency and have committed to being a net zero carbon borough by 2030.
The authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children/young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an enhanced disclosure & barring service check (DBS) will be sought.
