To contribute to the provision for specific children across the school where a SEND need has been identified. Do you have the drive, passion, and commitment to deliver outstanding support to young people?
The successful candidate will need to be able to work within the classroom, liaising with the class teacher and the SEN Team.
We would welcome applications from those who have experience of working with children but also those who wish to pursue a new career in this area. We are looking for a dedicated individual to provide tailored support to our students. You will be committed to making a positive difference to young people’s lives and in supporting and developing their learning.
Key attributes for this role are:
* GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.
* Experience of working with children in a secondary school.
* Experience of supporting children with SEN needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
* High expectations of children's progress, attainment, and behaviour.
* An ability to support pupils with barriers to their learning.
* The ability to motivate, challenge, and engage children.
* The ability to use your own initiative, focusing on solving problems.
* The ability to work as a positive team member.
* Patience, empathy, and good communication skills.
* Organisation and resourcefulness, the ability to work under pressure with good time management skills and a sense of humour.
* An understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
* Confidence in using IT.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
* Successful experience of working with young people ideally within a school environment.
* Willingness and ability to support children of all abilities.
* Ability to work effectively with our teachers in the delivery of the national curriculum.
* Demonstrate flexibility and good organisational skills.
* Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes.
* Work well with individuals, small groups, and classes of children and report back on the progress being made.
* Supervise children during breaks and lunch when necessary.
* Maintain complete confidentiality on all school matters.
When required, provide support for teachers and HLTA’s, help children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom and, where appropriate, contribute to the day-to-day running of the Academy.
Contribute to the raising of the achievement of children with an EHCP and support them in making expected or better progress.
Contribute to the promotion of the well-being of children within the Academy.
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children you teach or come into contact with.
Responsible, as a member of staff, for promoting and developing a positive culture and ensuring diversity within the Academy community is recognised and respected.
Contribute to the development of the Academy’s vision, values, and aims and abide by agreed professional behaviours and attitudes.
