We are seeking an enthusiastic cardiologist with an interest in coronary intervention. This post will support the existing team of 6 interventional cardiologists which at present delivers an elective and urgent interventional service including 24/7 Primary PCI. The post involves a commitment to a 1:6 interventional week day on call. In addition, there would be a commitment to a 1:6 weekend interventional/general cardiology on call which would include coronary care ward rounds, cardiology ward reviews, and hospital referrals. Experience of additional procedures and tests including DSE and TOE is required.
The core job plan would consist of interventional sessions which would not be fixed but dependent on catheter laboratory availability. The Trust is in the process of constructing two new catheter labs which are expected to be commissioned later this year. The post has no commitment to Acute General Medicine but does involve participation in a 1:9 Consultant Cardiologist of the week rota.
The post joins a dynamic team of cardiologists in delivering secondary Cardiology services for the North Cumbrian population. There are 5 non-interventional cardiologists providing pacing and specialist echocardiographic services in addition to the interventionist team. This developing department provides cardiology services to a local urban and rural population of approximately 320,000 people.

1. Cover for PPCI whilst on call
2. Elective procedures including PCI/angio in Cath labs
3. Participate in COW as per rota
4. Performing job planned clinics
5. Teaching/educating Central Doctors on ward
6. Contributing to MDT meetings
