You will be working in a busy Quality department at this prestigious Aerospace company that has a reputation for high quality and superb finishes. As a Quality Inspector, you will learn this craft from a range of highly skilled professionals.
We will create a bespoke training plan to your skillset and needs and under the tutelage of our staff we will help you flourish in this specialist highly sought-after industry.
You will work as part of a team of quality inspectors ensuring that all parts that are processed by Lamberts London Limited meet our stringent quality guidelines, ensuring the high-quality product that our customers expect from us. All work within Lamberts London is carried out to EN9100 Aerospace Quality Standard, which is based upon ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements. EN9100 supplements ISO 9001 requirements with additional quality system requirements, which are established by the aerospace industry in order to satisfy DOD, NASA and FAA quality requirements.
We use our own internal Quality documentation – QMF20 that details our quality acceptance criteria. You will be inspecting against this documentation as well as to the quality requirements of our customers. You will be performing visual inspections on all parts after each different stage of the process to ensure that it conforms. If there are any faults – either scratches, dents or lacquering blemishes, these must be written down and marked upon the part before being returned to the relevant department for correction.
Once the product has been finished you will perform the Final Quality Inspection, looking for any defects. This is a vital process, and you will be the last person to see the part before the final customer sees it, which means it is your responsibility to ensure conformance. Once passed on the final inspection you will carefully wrap the parts in a soft protective cloth and sealed within a polythene bag, before being taken through to our Goods department to arrange shipment.
For most of your time you will be working on your own, under your own initiative, and so must be able to work without supervision, but at the same time, have the knowledge to raise any issues with the Quality Manager, Chief Operations Officer or Managing Director.
You must ensure that you handle all parts with due care as you will be handling parts in substrate and plated and lacquered layers. You must also ensure you have a reasonable level of fitness as you will be on your feet all day and you may handle larger items that can be unwieldy or quite heavy.
Occasionally you will assist the Quality manager for test plating thickness, corrosion resistance testing and other necessary testing and also Non-conformance Reporting for customers.
You will be based in an open-plan, purpose-built inspection department. You will be fully provided with all of the PPE and taught the safe systems of work that you require to perform your job safely. You may be required to participate in risk assessments, and you will be required to follow the health and safety and environmental procedures relevant to your role, including waste management, Incident and spill response and general compliance support.
You will have experience in Quality Inspection and confidence in your abilities and attention to detail.
In addition to your normal duties, you may be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
