Priory Adult Care is the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist adult care services. Our aim is to provide the right support in the right home for all the individuals we accommodate.
With community-based residential care settings, as well as a network of supported living services, we support adults over the age of 18 with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) and behaviours that challenge. We also offer a range of residential and nursing care settings for older people with varying levels of need.
Job Advert Role Description
We are currently looking to grow our already established and dedicated team of Bank Support Workers at the Whitby Scheme. The Whitby Scheme consists of 4 residential care home specialising in supporting individuals with learning disability, autism and mental health conditions.
As a support worker you will be supporting our residents with their day to day lives, encouraging them to live as independently as possible. You may get involved in exciting activities outside of the home too – our residents/service users participate in day trips, charity events and much more!
Responsibilities
1. Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
2. Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
3. Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
4. Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
5. Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
6. Encouragement to participate in social and recreational activities
Qualifications and Skills
7. Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
8. Empathy, understanding and patience
9. Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
10. Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure
11. The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
12. Competent in verbal and written English
