We are looking for a Security & Safety Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis, working across all three of our campuses (Sighthill, Merchiston & Craiglockhart) and our accommodation developments (Bainfield, Slateford Road and Orwell Terrace) on a 4 on 4 off rotation. This is a full-time, permanent position working 24/7 rotational shifts: Two 12-hour dayshifts (7am 7pm), two 12-hour nightshifts shift (7pm 7am) then 4 days off. Salary: £23,028 per annum plus 7% shift allowance (£1,611 per annum) and agreed contractual overtime of 376 hours per annum (as part of the contractual shift pattern) currently payable at time and a quarter (£5,945 per annum) plus excellent benefits. As a Security & Safety Assistant, youll make a difference by ensuring excellent customer service is delivered to our student, staff, and visitors. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment throughout our campuses and student accommodation sites. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team who are at the heart of the university. The Role As a Security & Safety Assistant, youll be able to use your customer-focused approach to provide a safe and secure environment including foot/mobile patrols; opening/locking of premises; operational control of University car parking; security of equipment, vehicles and all University premises including student accommodation buildings that implements the Universities security regulation. Youll also be able to use your good knowledge of Microsoft Packages, to use IT systems to maintain all incident reports, patrol sheets and other documentation, ensuring that all information and records are compliant with GDPR. What well need from you We are looking for someone with a strong, customer service focussed outlook. The ideal candidate will have an approachable demeanour with a solid understanding of current student welfare, student residential life and mental wellbeing issues. Successful applicants will have demonstrable experience of working face to face with a diverse range of people in a support focussed, disciplined environment; with a flexible approach to respond to situations in a positive way.
