Required Knowledge and Qualifications
- Level 3 Pipe Welder Apprenticeship Standard (ST0851)
Or an equivalent Apprenticeship in a Welding discipline
Or Diploma in one of the following:
* Welding Engineering Construction Pipework;
* Welding Engineering Construction Plate;
* Welding Engineering Construction (Pipework or Plate) at SCQF Level 7
- And CSWIP certificate or L2 PCN Certificate
- And LATS or SSSTS or IOS Managing Safety.
- Shall be able to pass the welder qualification tests or have BS EN ISO 9606 Coded Welding Qualification in the related works.
- Can achieve ECITB Chargehand Development Course as a following target qualification.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the same position in large scale, industrial projects.
- Knowledge of various welding codes, specifications, techniques, and methods.
- Knowledge of the properties of metal machining, bevelling, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
- Knowledge and experience of common welding processes such as TIG, MMA, TIG+MMA, FCAW.
- Shall be able to pass the welder qualification tests according to ISO 9606-1.
- Shall be able to weld in CS, SS, and low alloy/alloy pipes in related dimensions and schedules for piping.
- Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS).
- Hold or can achieve CCNSG Safety Passport and HS&E test Supervisors.
- Prove of English Level (CEFR) B1 preferably.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Experience in welding carbon steel, low alloy/alloy, and ferritic and austenitic steel.
* Experience and knowledge in pre-heat of low alloy materials.
* Weld or tack-weld components and assemblies of pressure parts, tubes, pipes, plates, supports, vessels, or structural works by manual welding.
* Carry out management of an operation site.
* Follow established job-site safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
* Awareness and working by following the STAR strategy; Stop, Think, Act, and Review.
* Monitor welding operation parameters in accordance with WPS.
* Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials, and notify supervisors.
* Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
* Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding techniques.
* Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, and/or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
* Perform visual inspection during the welding operation.
* Advise and communicate on any necessary adjustments at the scaffolding to the related supervisor.
* Provide performance of production targets in a timely manner in terms of volume of production work and quality.
* Define arrangement of workers and crews, carry out formation of crews (their quantitative, professional, and qualifying structure), and coordinate their activity.
* Participate in acceptance of the complete works for reconstruction of a site, repair of process equipment, mechanization, and automation of productions and manual works.
* Ensure that a "zero harm" approach is taken in relation to all acts and omissions regarding the services and the project, acknowledging that nuclear safety and security are of paramount importance.
* Comply with any rule, instruction, or requirement of the Company in relation to the services necessary for compliance with obligations under the nuclear site license.
* Housekeeping of work areas; collection, segregation, and disposal of wastes as required; removal of unused materials and clear the work floors to eliminate/reduce slipping or tripping risks in your work area.
* Safe use, protection, storage, and care of general maintenance products, hand, and power tools.

* Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with or misuse anything provided for your health, safety, or welfare;
* Follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you.
Authorities
* May stop work if unsafe conditions exist.
* May stop the work or operation immediately in cases where the work is not conforming to the requirements.
* Report Quality and HSE issues.
* Authorized to initiate corrective actions.
* Report the NCRs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £26.15-£27.12 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 50 per week
