Job Description
This is a full time, permanent position working a flexible 40 hour week.
The purpose of this role is to provide and maintain an effective and safe working environment that complies with environmental, health and safety legislation. The Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Advisor is responsible for contributing to the effective performance of the team. The role provides support to various Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) programs and to the local Client and PSS team members.
Job Responsibilities
* Support local processes for filing / posting applicable regulatory permits and licenses
* Participate in the development and / or implementation of departmental policies, SOP’s and training materials
* Assist with EHS audits including scheduling, preparation and follow-up actions
* Generate metrics for site specific programs
* Coordinate regular meetings, takes minutes and tracks follow up actions
* Coordination and completion of assigned EHS projects, supporting the development of sustainable, robust and compliant EHS strategies and systems with associated policies and procedures.
* Be a visible leader of EHS initiatives and drive in EHS forums/initiatives, as well as promotion of Positive EHS Culture
* Support completion of the investigation of EHS incidents and corrective actions in a timely manner
* Create, update and maintain all client safety related quality documentation working procedures and standard documents
* Highlight training requirements and improve the safety culture through training and awareness
* Monitor adherence to company policies and check effectiveness of current policies that are in place
* Create update and maintain all internal safety related quality documentation working procedure and standard documents
* Carry out EHS inductions, manual handling and ergonomic training as required.
* Achieve milestone objectives as agreed on projects assigned
* Promote EHS culture and awareness within the client organisation through participation and clear visibility and alignment on assigned project goals, targets and achievements.
* Advise management on Environmental health and safety laws, regulations and directives which affect the company and its employees.
* Participate in Environment & Sustainability Projects where required
* Participating in PSS Team Meetings and giving updates to rest of team as necessary.
* Reviewing and improving commercial work practices. Responsible for identifying areas where efficiencies may be improved and liaising with the customer appropriately about any proposed improvements.
Qualifications
* A degree or diploma in microbiology / chemistry or a related subject.
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science related discipline
* At least 3 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical industry GMP laboratory.
* Level 6 diploma in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety
* At least 3 years’ technical experience in EHS and a proven track record of developing EHS compliance programs, with exposure to chemical and/or biological agents in the Pharmaceutical industry or related industry.
* Technical knowledge of OEL’s and product containment
* Clear understanding of the needs of cGMP
* Ability to work in a multidiscipline team but also possesses self-motivation and drive.
* Working knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and regulations.
* Experience of chemical/biological agents risk assessment and occupational monitoring is essential.
* Experience in conducting EHS audits.
* Excellent organisational skills and good commercial acumen.
* Self-motivated with the ability to drive improvements.
* Proven ability to build effective relationships.
* Demonstrate effective communication skills and a proactive attitude to solving any lab issues by liaising with management and offering solutions where appropriate.
* Superlative team player, organised, accurate, have strong documentation skills
* Passionate about quality and customer service.
* Good communication skills both internally and externally.
