Select are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Quality Inspector for one of our clients on the outskirts of Norwich.
Our client is a leader within their field, and due to an ever-increasing order book, they are looking to add an experienced Quality Inspector to join their established team.
The role of the Mechanical Quality Inspector is to ensure that all products meet the quality requirements of the customer and the organisation. This position reports directly to the Chief Inspector. As a hands-on inspector, you will be responsible for executing general inspection functions both visual and dimensional, including correctly and properly using mechanical measuring devices and reporting results.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Perform complete inspections to engineering drawings.
2. Conduct measurements such as length, height, and distance, using precision instruments such as micrometres, vernier calipers, dial test indicators, Faro arm and coordinate measuring machine.
3. Locate datum’s on parts and measure dimensions such as angle, arc and radii using a combination of aids such as parallel bars, gauge blocks, v blocks, sine bars and precision measuring instruments such as a digital height gauge.
4. Visually compare work pieces against one another to assess in-process manufacturing variations.
5. Report quality problems or findings to the chief inspector and follow up to ensure corrective action has been put in place.
6. Interact with different departments to ensure compliance with specifications and to facilitate acceptance of parts.
7. Inspect surface coatings such as anodising, phosphate and paint to specifications.
8. Check commercial off-the-shelf items conform to specifications required and that the relevant documentation has been received.
9. Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role.
About the Person:
Essential:
1. Previous experience in a quality or inspection role working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
2. Good working knowledge of engineering drawings including GD&T.
3. Experience using hand-held measuring equipment.
4. The ability to work individually and as part of a team.
5. Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight schedules.
6. Good computer skills.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and work as a team.
9. Strong attention to detail.
10. Full Driving Licence to drive in the UK and abroad.
11. Valid passport with no travel restrictions.
Desirable:
1. Use of CNC/CMM’s (PC-DMIS).
2. A willingness to learn and develop.
3. Qualification in mechanical engineering.
