JOB DESCRIPTION The Road Logistics Business Development Manager is responsible for new business sales and the development of customers within the road logistics business unit.
Your Role
You will be allocated a specific sales area and tasked with identifying and generating a pipeline of customers moving volumes between the UK and EU. The primary function is to sell the core products of the road logistics business unit, ensuring the development and maintenance of revenues from both new and existing businesses as agreed upon with line management. This position is open in one of our offices located in Dartford or Bristol and requires mobility within these areas.
Your Responsibilities
1. Identify and generate new business opportunities for the road logistics business unit.
2. Manage and maintain target customer lists and a pipeline for clients spending £100,000+ annually on road movements.
3. Handle RFI and RFQ management using Kuehne + Nagel’s Tender Management Methodology.
4. Share knowledge and ensure team engagement with product activities.
5. Collaborate to develop new traffic and product services with other business units.
6. Report on success, pipeline, and lost opportunities regularly.
7. Monitor competition and market trends to stay updated.
Your Skills and Experiences
8. Experience in logistics and senior sales positions required.
9. Knowledge of the EU road logistics market.
10. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
11. Strong commercial acumen.
12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
13. High attention to detail.
14. Ability to interpret and analyze complex data.
15. Effective influencing and negotiating abilities.
