A caring and supportive personal assistant is required for a happy and lively 9-year-old boy living in the Saltash area. He has autism and would like someone who he can build up a positive relationship with and provide him with 1:1 support. This would include some personal care.
His interests are swimming, water play, soft play, engaging with activity books, and iPad screen time for watching programmes. He loves being outdoors.
Primarily, support will be required in his home setting, but on occasion, there will be opportunities, alongside his family, for social activities out in the community, safety awareness, and promoting independent living skills.
Your support will enable him to have more home-based opportunities and establish an engaging routine, particularly during weekends and school holidays.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young person grow and achieve greater independence while making a positive impact on their life.
The role is part-time, with support required either after school or at the weekends. Additional hours will be available during school holidays. 8 hours per week are available, although this is flexible.
The hourly rate is £13.00, plus mileage.
Experience or knowledge of working with young people with SEND is essential. A driving licence and access to your own vehicle, having business use insurance, is also essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check, and the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
