About the role
The University of Leicester is seeking a Lecturer and Digital Metal CDT Manager to lead the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Digital Transformation of Metals Industry (DigitalMetal).
This pivotal role involves managing the daily operations and ensuring the successful delivery of the CDT's key objectives. The successful candidate will represent the University in collaboration with a consortium of esteemed universities, research organisations, and industry partners, focusing on the recruitment, supervision, and training of PhD researchers in digital manufacturing and related fields.
Additionally, the role encompasses the development and delivery of training programmes and continuing professional development for CDT postgraduate researchers (PGRs). As a central figure in a UK-wide community of digital manufacturing researchers spanning academia, industry, and the public sector, the postholder will drive innovative research and training initiatives to benefit the CDT and its partners.
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant STEM discipline and have a record of published research, some of which is internationally recognised for its originality, significance, and rigour. You should demonstrate evidence of successful collaboration with external partners and possess a proven track record of delivering research projects on time.
Experience in budget management and delivering training or teaching is essential. While not mandatory, experience in PhD supervision, practical expertise in materials, manufacturing, or AI (potentially within an industrial setting), project management of research programmes, and line management experience would be advantageous.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, effective presentation abilities, and the capacity to manage, motivate, and support colleagues are crucial. A commitment to personal professional development and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are also important.
