Job Summary

To work within a multi-disciplinary CAMHS team and provide therapeutic packages of care to children and young people and their families in both community and clinic settings and to provide care coordination under the Mental Health Wales (2010) Measure where appropriate.
The post holder will carry out comprehensive assessments within CAMHS, including assessments of self-harm and risk and be responsible for a caseload of young people and families suffering from a variety of mental health difficulties.
The post holder will liaise closely with other agencies and professionals and provide consultation when required. There will also be a need to provide teaching and training to others.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job
1. To carry out initial comprehensive specialist assessments of children and their families using the appropriate assessment tools/proformas.
2. To be responsible for planning and developing a programme of care, acting as care co-ordinator within the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
3. This includes assessment, treatment, and evaluation in both community and clinic settings to meet the needs of individual clients and their carers in accordance with agreed protocols of care and based on best available evidence.
4. To liaise closely with other agencies and attend meetings such as core groups and case conferences where the post holder will be expected to provide and receive complex sensitive information and process this information accordingly.
5. To work as a member of the family therapy team where appropriate.
6. To make clinical decisions and work autonomously in a variety of settings, having an understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, which requires expertise underpinned by relevant clinical experience and knowledge within CAMHS.

Person Specification
Qualifications and/or Knowledge Essential
* Qualified to deliver activity under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure (2010) including registrants with relevant regulatory bodies for the following qualifications: First level nurse, registered to practice in mental health or learning disabilities. Supplemented by specialist training to post-graduate level.
* Knowledge of the assessment and treatment of mental health. Knowledge of and/or training in CBT-informed approaches (e.g. CBT, DBT, ACT, SFT, CFT).
* Knowledge of and/or training in risk and safety management process, including self-harm, suicide and risk to others, of child safeguarding legislation and procedures and of Gillick Competence and mental capacity. Evidence of continuing professional development.
Experience Essential
* Significant previous experience of working within a professional mental health setting.
* Experience of managing risk in a mental health setting of working with families, carers, and trusted adults.
* Experience of multi-professional and multi-agency working including representing the service at meetings.
* Experience of collaborating with colleagues to develop their skills. Experience of delivering individualised mental health care, including assessment, psychologically informed approaches, review and discharge. Experience of professional record keeping.
Aptitude and Abilities Essential

* Ability to communicate effectively across a broad range of key stakeholders including children and young people.
* Ability to manage own caseload and time and work under pressure. Able to adapt clinical skills to working remotely (i.e. via telephone/video calls).
Other Essential
* Ability to travel within geographical area with own transport. Satisfactory Enhanced DBS clearance including an Adults and Children’s Barred List check due to working with young people and their families/carers.
* Strong and adaptable communication skills to suit varying recipients of various ages for various purposes, demonstrating commitment to high-quality care and service provision.
* Ability to develop positive therapeutic relationships with people experiencing mental health issues. Ability to empower others to be reflective, whilst working with service users, ability to work well within a team and foster good working relationships. Capable of culturally sensitive practice.
