Our aim is to push the boundaries of performance of unmanned, uncrewed autonomous vehicles. We design intelligent motors, motor controllers, and generators that reduce energy consumption and improve system efficiency at a lower cost in multiple industries. Our current portfolio of e-machine and controller products are used in a wide range of vehicles and devices, including aerial drones, unmanned ground vehicles and high-efficiency swimming pool pumps.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with experience in the design and development of electric motors and generators. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the engineering team, working closely with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and test mechanical components for e-motor/generator systems. The role involves contributing to the development of next-generation electric machines; optimizing performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop mechanical components and systems for e-motors and generators, including housings, rotors and stators.
2. Perform detailed 3D modelling and component-level structural analysis (FEA) to ensure mechanical integrity and optimize designs for performance, weight, and cost.
3. Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical subsystems.
4. Generate and review detailed engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with internal/industry standards and best practices.
5. Direct involvement with prototyping, testing, and validation of designs, including performance and durability testing, and iterate designs based on test results.
6. Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective, while maintaining high-quality standards.
7. Provide technical support during the product lifecycle, from concept to production.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
2. Experience in the automotive or aerospace industry would be beneficial, but is not required.
3. 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with electric motors, generators, or related electromechanical systems.
4. Experience with thermal management, rotor dynamics, and vibration analysis for rotating machinery would be beneficial.
5. Proficiency in SolidWorks (experience with other CAD systems will be considered).
6. Experience with SolidWorks PDM/Manage would be beneficial, but is not essential; training will be provided.
7. Strong understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design principles.
8. Working knowledge/understanding of GD&T and its application.
9. Familiarity with additive manufacturing technologies.
10. Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing e-motors or generators.
11. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
12. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
13. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
14. Ability to work under pressure on multiple, concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
What We Offer:
1. Competitive salary and benefits package.
2. Flexible working hours.
3. Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.
4. A dynamic and collaborative work environment within an innovative engineering company.
