Behaviour Support Practitioner - Core or Proficient Level
* Full-time
* Job Status: Full Time
Welcome to Ability Action Australia!
We are one of the largest providers to the NDIS, supporting over 10,000 participants annually with the care they need, when and where it is needed. Our multi-disciplinary team approach builds a quality support service around the needs and goals of our participants and their families.
Help us help others by providing life-changing support that can improve independence, access, development, health, wellbeing, and function.
We are expanding our Behaviour Support team and seek experienced and dynamic Behaviour Support Practitioners eager to be part of a multidisciplinary team and make a difference. You will bring expertise, maturity, and strong organizational and time management skills.
Successful candidates will support NDIS participants in areas including Tamworth, Watsons Creek, Upper Manilla, Gunnedah, Wallabadah, and surrounding areas, depending on your location.
This role offers the chance to be part of a wider multidisciplinary team that supports each other's challenges and successes. No two days are the same! Activities may include working in daycare centres, schools, homes, and on outreach trips to Gunnedah and surrounds. We also host monthly Wellness Walks by the river—supporting our regional community!
You will support vulnerable community members by acting as an advocate and role model. Your daily responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify needs through assessment and person-centered planning.
2. Evaluating, developing, and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support environment.
3. Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies using a positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community.
4. Ensuring individual plans reflect participants' goals, passions, and strengths.
5. Building the knowledge, capacity, and strengths of those supporting participants—families, carers, friends, etc.
6. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners.
We support you as you support others! Our benefits include:
1. Work flexibility—Choose your hours and days, from 24 hours a week to full-time, to suit your lifestyle.
2. Excellent remuneration—Industry-leading salary, salary packaging, car allowance, laptop, smartphone, purchased leave, and bonus opportunities.
3. Work-life balance—Set your own schedule. Enjoy the convenience of working from home combined with support at our hubs.
4. Career progression—Access ongoing training tailored to your interests and goals, along with professional development through Ability Action Australia and MedHealth.
5. Continuous Professional Development—Generous CPD allowance and paid leave days for training.
6. Positive culture—Join a purpose-driven team that values your development and making a difference.
To be considered, you will need:
1. Current suitability confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission at the Core or Proficient level as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
2. Experience in mentoring and supervising other Behaviour Support Practitioners.
3. Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage a varied caseload.
4. A proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and learning from new ideas.
5. Genuine passion for working in the disability sector.
