The Head of Estates and Facilities takes the lead role for the management of the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) estate and associated facilities (hard and soft) that support the estate to ensure compliance and ensure each facility is fit for purpose. This will involve working closely and building relationships with various stakeholders and divisions within Shared Services including Planning, Procurement, Finance & Corporate and Specialist Estates Services.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
As the Head of Estates and Facilities, they will provide specialist estates and facilities management expertise to support and advise operational and corporate departments within Shared Services, including but not limited to the following:
1. Work with stakeholders across the organisation to develop and communicate the Shared Services vision for estates and facilities and ensuring alignment with operational priorities and requirements. This will involve managing very complex information that is multi-stranded (statutory requirements, legislation, service delivery, financial and workforce information), in order to manage the delivery of services.
2. This will also require working closely with Specialist Estates Services colleagues who provide technical advice and support to the Welsh Government and NHS Wales on a wide range of issues related to the built environment in healthcare facilities.
3. Lead service planning for Health and Safety, Facilities and Support Services and develop and implement the Integrated long- and Medium-Term Plan (IMTP) for continued development of sustainable and financially viable services.

Qualifications and Knowledge
* An accredited Facilities Management, Mechanical/Electrical engineering, Architectural or Surveying degree or equivalent experience.
* In depth professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent plus specialist knowledge acquired through post-graduate courses and experience to masters equivalent level plus in-depth managerial, financial and strategic knowledge.
* Substantial track record and knowledge of delivery and managing a Hard and Soft FM service.
* Chartered membership of a recognised professional institution (e.g. IWFM, RIBA, MRICS, CEng etc).
* Understanding of the complex nature of the NHS environment, including estate planning.
Experience
* Significant experience with a track record of operating in an estates management discipline.
* Expert knowledge and experience of developing and implementing strategies and plans for the delivery of services.
* In-depth management experience including Finance/ budgetary, health and safety, statutory compliance and procurement.
* Experience of leading training and development programmes across an organisation.
* Experience of line management of diverse teams and managing staff.
* Knowledge of NHS processes/protocols in managing an estate.
* Experience of working on business cases and acting as a project manager on capital projects.
Skills and Attributes
* Advanced technical, theoretical and practical knowledge of managing buildings and associated complex systems.
