Offer Description
The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) is a UK Cancer Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered unit, established in 2006 to design and conduct academically led clinical trials. The Unit employs trial managers, data managers, statisticians, regulatory staff, and administrative support staff. We manage a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice. The Unit is core funded by Cancer Research UK and has support from the National Institute for Health Research, based at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust.
We have an exciting opportunity to work within the SCTU supporting the Early Diagnosis and Translational Group. You will work with colleagues supporting our trial management team and will take responsibility for providing high-quality administrative support across a range of activities. Candidates should have suitable experience, good communication skills, the ability to multitask, and be a team player.
The employing organisation is the University of Southampton, which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme, and other benefits. The post is offered on a one-year fixed-term contract in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension. SCTU offers the option to be fully office-based at Southampton General Hospital or a hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office if full-time.
The SCTU is part of a strong research environment in Southampton, which includes the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility, and NHS R&D Management. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous clinical trials experience to join a CTU that has full registration status from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC).
The post is available full or part-time. Full-time is 35 hours; the minimum part-time hours considered is 21 hours.
The Faculty of Medicine holds an Athena SWAN Silver Award, demonstrating a commitment to equal opportunities and gender balance in the workplace. The Faculty recognises that applicants may seek flexible working patterns, which will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
