Senior Payroll Officer | 4-month Temp Contract - Hybrid
Pertemps are currently recruiting for a Senior Payroll Officer on a Temporary basis for 4 months, on behalf of our client with a base option of either Stafford or Shrewsbury.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective production of the group's payroll, including the support of the Payroll Officers. Assist the Payroll Manager with key payroll projects and provide technical support to meet the demands of the service and business.
Hours: Mon-Fri 09:00am-17:00pm | Salary: £17.62 per hour
Duties Include but are not limited to:
1. Support the payroll officers in the accurate delivery of all payrolls, making all relevant adjustments and deductions as appropriate and dispatching all payroll documentation to employees.
2. Working with People Services to ensure that all relevant information regarding starters and leavers and other adjustments to employees' pay has been input into the HR and payroll system.
3. Responsible for ensuring all employee-related expenses claims are accurately coded and authorised with all necessary supporting documentation and payments processed through the group's payroll systems after carrying out all financial checks deemed necessary.
4. Ensure the payroll is administered within the statutory and regulatory requirements for payroll production.
5. Support the Payroll Officers in responding to all payroll queries and escalated matters.
6. Responsible for ensuring third party payments are raised, with supporting documentation to HMRC, Pension bodies and any other deductions, and reconcile these payments to the Payroll and the Nominal Ledger Suspense Accounts.
7. Responsible for the effective administration of Auto Enrolment within payroll, ensuring group employer legal obligations are met.
8. Reconcile payments to the Payroll and the Nominal Ledger Suspense Accounts.
9. In the event of absence within the team, ensure the production of the payrolls within the agreed time frame.
10. Support the payroll officers in the preparation of all year-end returns at the end of each fiscal year in a timely and accurate manner.
11. Calculate, process and reconcile annual pay review for all employees.
12. Review processes and eligibility of employee benefits and implement new procedures where necessary.
13. Assist with review NMW compliance review including all processes and procedures to ensure we meet requirements of NMW legislation.
14. Review of Defined Contribution Salary Sacrifice pension scheme.
15. Review and implement improvements of processes and procedures whilst liaising with the pension provider.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Experience of working in a payroll team and processing payrolls from start to finish.
2. Experience of working within a project team and project delivery.
3. Strong numerical skills and high degree of accuracy.
4. General IT skills with excellent working knowledge of Excel (Pivot tables, lookups).
5. Demonstrate initiative in developing working practices to be more efficient and effective and to drive through continuous improvement.
6. Able to work within processes and policies and able to suggest improvements and changes.
