On a day to day basis the Team Leader will play an active role in assisting the carrying out of site audits, by supporting staff in the day to day cleaning activities and providing any on site practical training and advice that maybe required, ensuring COSHH documentation is up to date and that all staff are following the correct procedures in respect to Health and Safety, COSHH, and Risk Assessments.
The services covers the following sites: Schools, Public Buildings, Museums Public Conveniences and Commercial Premises
Expectation and Outcomes of this Role:-
To ensure the maintenance of a hygienic, functional environment that facilitates the effective conduct of Council Business.
Your responsibilities are to:-
• Working under the supervision of the Facilites Supervisor and Deputy Supervisor supporting staff in the day to day cleaning activities, and providing any on site practical training and advice that maybe required .
• Carry out site audits to ensure that the Facilities Cleaning Section is meeting its obligations under the Service Legal Agreements.
• Review cleaning procedures and practices as necessary, making changes as appropriate to ensure that any systems are effective and up to date, including reviewing annually.
• Ensure that all team members are familiar with and adhere to the County Council’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures, COSHH, cleaning methods and Site Specific Procedures.
• To supervise staff resources on a daily basis accross the Service to ensure that a first class cleaning service is provided on every site.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and motivation skills to the site including communicating on a regular basis so that team goals can be achieved.
• To assist with the recruitment for new staff for the facilities Cleaning section, ensuring the correct number of staff is maintained at all times including arranging cover for sickness and absenteeism as required. This may include providing cover for staff absences as the service require.
• Undertaking staff induction training.
• Have full understanding of all cleaning equipment, materials and chemicals, must be able to supervise the use of such equipment and chemicals, and adhering to COSHH regulations.
• To ensure that all time sheets, holiday records, sick returns are correctly filled out by your staff and passed onto the Facilities Cleaning Business support Team within set time scales / deadlines.
• To have a flexible approach to working hours and duties.
• To undertake any training considered necessary for the post i.e. BICS.
• To actively support and implement the principles and practice of equality of opportunity as laid down in the Councils Equal Opportunities Policy.
• Advising the Building Cleaning Manager in good time of any actual or potential problems within the workforce.
• Identify new business opportunities and raise these with the Building Cleaning Manager
• Any other operational or administrative duties commensurate with the grade of the post.
• This post requires working Monday to Friday on a 7.24 hour working day (37 hours per week). However operational needs may require the postholder to work additional hours as the Service demands.
