We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised information professional to manage our physical and digital library and develop the resources and services to MOD users based in HQ London and wider MOD audience via the digital Library. The post holder will be responsible for the management and development of the Whitehall Library services including collections management, Library Management System (Softlink-Liberty), online publishing using SharePoint and commercial databases such as EBSCO and ProQuest. Furthermore, you will be responsible for procurement, and finance management of these library resources in response to developing trends and customers' needs. You will also plan and deliver Information literacy programme of training sessions to enable the best usage of the resources on offer.
What will the successful candidate be doing?
The successful candidate will have a substantial role in leading and running the Whitehall Library services including:
• collection management of digital and print library resources
• overall responsibility for acquisitions procedures, cataloguing as well as setting and maintaining appropriate standards
• finance responsibility for spend on print and electronic resources
• monitoring the service delivery for Library services including customer satisfaction monitoring and evaluation
• Whitehall Library input into collaborative purchasing and enabling contracts
• line management responsibility for 3 Assistant Librarians and CSO for Library Support Officer
• overseeing delivery of information literacy training sessions to user base
• management responsibilities for the purchase or renewal of electronic and print resources
• systems manager of the library management system (LMS- Softlink Liberty)
• ensure business continuity measures are in place for Library service
• duties on the main library enquiry desk on a rota basis
