About the job you're considering We are looking for a skilled Network and Connectivity Engineer to join our team in Portsmouth. In this role, you will design, configure, and review network setups at ground stations, contributing to the network design solutions and implementation plans for our telecommunications systems. You will work closely with design teams and customers, ensuring that business requirements are met while maintaining high standards of quality and integrity. This position will require SC Clearance (or DV Clearance if possible), and you will be expected to work in the office 2-3 days per week. Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including: identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service) Your Role Design, configure, and review network configurations at ground stations, with a focus on understanding latency delays in NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) communication. Contribute to network design solutions and implementation plans, building effective relationships with the design team and customers to deliver business requirements. Ensure the timely production of network designs while maintaining high quality and integrity through peer review processes. Develop and maintain documentation related to network configuration, network mapping processes, and service records. Monitor and test network performance, providing detailed performance statistics and reports. Manage network asset inventory, including documentation and technical specifications. Troubleshoot network issues within a large-scale enterprise network environment. Collaborate with the team to review design requirements and confirm that services are operationally acceptable for live deployment. Educate and advise others on adhering to network design standards within the organisation. You can bring your whole self to work. Your skills and experience Significant experience in the design and implementation of telecom networks, including expertise in WAN technologies (IP/MPLS, TDM) and a strong understanding of LAN/WAN/SAN architectures. Expertise in network design engineering, including fixed network configuration, troubleshooting, and management best practices. Strong skills in monitoring and testing network performance and providing performance statistics and reports. Proficient in developing and maintaining network configuration and mapping documentation as well as service records. Strong problem-solving skills in a large-scale enterprise network environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an Engineering subject. Membership of an appropriate professional institution. Certifications: Relevant Network Certifications, such as Cisco CCNA/NP, CCDA/DP, or CCIE. Desirable Skills: Experience with NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) communication and space systems is desirable but not mandatory Don’t meet every single requirements?
