Senior Quantity Surveyor
As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Immingham Eastern Ro-Ro (Roll on - Roll off) Terminal Project, including all subcontract administration, cost and value reporting, and assistance in main contract change management and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overseeing subcontract administration for the delivery of the works including design, site set-up, civils, marine works, and building and MEP works.
2. Contract management and administration of a number of subcontracts (NEC4 Option A/C/E Subcontract) and design contracts (NEC4 PSC Contract Option A/C/E) ensuring compliance with the contract and management systems.
3. Manage and assess the monthly payment process for the aforementioned subcontract in accordance with the contractual timescales.
4. Manage and coordinate with the package manager the change management process under the subcontracts including drafting of contractors instructions and reviewing NCEs and quotations for compensation events.
5. Manage the project's main designer contract ensuring assistance is provided to the design team on cost information of design.
6. Work with the estimating manager and specialist suppliers to review and update the construction stage estimate in accordance with the latest design.
7. Produce monthly cost and value reporting including cash flow forecast and presentation to the senior management team.
8. Registration, notification, and evaluation of early warning procedures events.
9. Assist the Procurement Manager in commercial and financial aspects of contracts.
10. Provide contractual advice to the commercial, construction, and engineering departments.
11. Report to the commercial manager on contractual aspects of the project.
12. Ensure compliance with the contractual requirements of the projects.
13. Costing of value engineering proposals and assisting in the assessment of changes to the accepted programme.
14. Preparation of contractual correspondence and responding to communications from the project manager.
15. Management of quantity surveying and assistant quantity surveyors during the construction stage of the project.
16. Assisting the commercial manager in educating the project team in the specific requirements of the NEC conditions of contract.
Qualifications, Certifications & Experience
1. The role will require the post holder to have excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, and to be able to report at management level.
2. Experience of working with NEC 3 or 4 contracts and administering NEC 3 or Subcontracts (Option A/B/C/E).
3. Experience working for a Main Contractor on large Civil Engineering/infrastructure projects.
4. Good understanding of EU and UK legislative requirements affecting procurement.
5. Analytical mind and logical problem-solving skills.
6. Able to work as part of a team.
7. Committed to an accountable, cost-effective, high-quality, customer-driven service delivery ethos.
8. High degree of commercial awareness.
9. Computer skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer.
10. Holds a CSCS Card.
11. Educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerate or commercial discipline.
12. Member or Associate Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or working towards.
