Portsmouth Water is recruiting an Asset Strategy Advisor to support strategic planning and innovation across long, medium, and short-term transformation projects. This role focuses on setting asset management goals, balancing service and business needs, and ensuring risk reduction through effective planning. The position requires identifying emerging trends, leading business model development, and collaborating with cross-functional teams, contractors, and consultants. With a strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement, the role plays a key part in delivering large-scale strategic programs in challenging economic conditions. What will you be doing? Key Responsibilities Develop and monitor asset management strategies, ensuring alignment with company objectives and regulatory requirements. Maintain and update asset monitoring plans, tracking performance, compliance, and industry standards. Support medium-term asset planning, incorporating key data and insights to improve accuracy and execution. Forecast future asset needs, managing data and contributing to Ofwat reporting requirements. Ensure alignment between asset plans and PR29 investment strategies, integrating asset intelligence and business priorities. Develop risk-based asset management models, optimizing performance and mitigating risks. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to asset health, reliability, and lifecycle performance. Track and update innovation initiatives, incorporating lessons learned into asset management strategies. Support the administration of the innovation framework, maintaining processes, timelines, and documentation. Assist in developing bids for the Ofwat Innovation Fund, ensuring proposals align with strategic priorities. What do you need? Skills, Qualifications & Competencies Experience in asset management, preferably within the water or utilities sector. Familiarity with medium and long-term planning is desirable. Strong data analysis skills with the ability to work with performance metrics, asset intelligence tools, and forecasting models. Proficiency in using advanced analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Python) to support decision-making and reporting. Ability to think strategically and support long-term planning efforts. Understand the link between asset performance and overall business objectives. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information to a variety of stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory bodies. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments, ensuring alignment and smooth execution of asset management and innovation activities. Strong understanding of financial principles related to asset management, including cost-benefit analysis, lifecycle costing, and capital expenditure planning. A degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Business, or a related discipline. Additional certifications such as ISO 55000 Asset Management or similar qualifications are advantageous.
