This is a newly created position to join MISTRAS Group Ltd as an Instrumentation Manager. The Instrumentation Manager will serve as a subject matter expert in the field of structural health monitoring hardware to provide best practice in system design, fabrication, installation and commissioning. The position is responsible for managing the detailed design of SHM monitoring systems and development of processes and procedures for MISTRAS related to monitoring solutions. The role will require ownership, management and development of all technical matters relating to sensors and hardware for different monitoring technologies. They’ll guide how work is executed in relation to MISTRAS procedures and work to integrate associated programs and documentation in accordance with customer requirements and relevant codes and standards. They will be the focal point and take the lead in developing processes, procedures, including training requirements and provision in selected hardware. Some of the key responsibilities include: Be the subject Matter Expert for UK Business – on monitoring instrumentation and hardware supporting all business elements. Work as part of the technical operations function within the UK Group to lead the ongoing development and implementation of monitoring services. Develop, implement, and maintain condition monitoring technique packs (procedures and all accompanying documentation). Assuring best practice and full compliance with relevant standards. Working with the operations team to evaluate the latest systems and technologies available for delivery of services. Lead in the assessment and development of hardware and or software when required. Lead on the development of documentation and procedure for performing Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests. As part of the MISTRAS competency assessment process support in the development, training, competency assessment and mentoring of staff and contractors to support the preparation, installation and commissioning of monitoring equipment and data analysis to ensure best practice. Working with the MISTRAS team to maintain the group certifications and support development of integrated processes and procedures. Work directly with the Operations and QHSE teams on Audits as required. Supporting the technical review of incoming work requests as part of the project bid team as SME, produce scope definitions to support proposal development and submission. Providing technical input into the development of a project work pack through to client approval Support the operations team to ensure safe and consistent Inspection and condition monitoring operations on site. You may be away from home for up to 1 month at a time. Providing in-project technical support, Data assessment interpretation and evaluation of inspection results, report development and review prior to issue and providing technical support to client following delivery of inspection results. Analyse previous projects data to build up a ‘lessons learned’ profile in relation to data analysis and develop predictions for new projects based on similar parameters. Comply with all appropriate QHSE policies and procedures and keep quality documentation up to date as required by the project You will need to be an experienced civil engineer with BEng or higher / or suitable experience and have demonstrable experience in NDT / SHM inspection and installation.
