The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse role is an exciting opportunity to develop your professional practice, leadership and management experience. This is a joint leadership role where two Ward Managers are responsible for the management of the 56 beds unit which includes a dedicated 11 bed Hi care Respiratory Support Unit. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual with a passion for ensuring quality driven care for respiratory patients. The successful candidate will show a commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and a compassionate approach to leadership.
We require an innovative self-motivated individual who is passionate about the Respiratory team to join our team as a band 7 senior nurse. Excellent communication skills and self-awareness are required for your own and others' well-being. The post holder will also contribute to the respiratory team, using your expert clinical knowledge and leadership skills for day-to-day patient management and within colleagues to embed a positive practice environment, supporting changes to our services within the medicine division and wider developments within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Duties of the Job
1. To develop and share expertise within the multidisciplinary team.
2. To develop and utilize skills and expertise to act as a resource in the care of patients' needs, ensuring an optimum level of service to patients and their carers.
3. To deploy high-level skills to provide effective communication systems of support for patients.
4. To adhere to and promote in others the importance of infection control guidelines and procedures.
5. To ensure that all patients and families are aware of all treatment options, including clinical trials.
6. To lead on policy and service development within a multidisciplinary team context.
7. To deliver and supervise patient care for the clinical area ensuring assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of a high standard of nursing care.
8. To manage a caseload of patients within the defined clinical area.
9. To lead the management of infection control for the clinical area in accordance with Trust Objectives and Policies.
10. To organize own time and that of qualified junior staff, unqualified staff, and students.
11. To support the senior members of staff in the management and supervision of the defined clinical area.
12. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives, and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
13. Maintain and develop high standards of care.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
* Registered nurse with NMC Diploma/BSc.
* Extensive Teaching and assessing Qualification/mentor experience.
* Experience of working in an acute clinical area as Band 6.
* Evidence of leadership/management development.
* Awareness of clinical skills across specialist areas.
* Leadership and management training/courses.
* Respiratory care module/courses/training.
* Advanced communication skills and training/previous experience.
* Working towards master level.
