The Pharmacy Department is a forward thinking and progressive department seeking to expand our current team as we develop the services provided to the Trust.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic person interested in working in our busy stores and distribution section of the Pharmacy Department. If you are motivated, with good communication skills, have a methodical approach to work, an ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team – you could be the person we are looking for.
Main duties of the job
* To assist in stock distribution of pharmaceuticals to wards, departments and other units on all sites across the Trust.
* To assist in the topping up of wards and in the picking of orders.
* To support the Pharmacy Storekeeper and other staff involved in the ordering, supply and invoicing of pharmaceuticals. To support the dispensary service as needed.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Distribution & Intelligent Storage System (Omnicell)
* To participate fully in the pharmacy topping up service to wards and departments within the Trust, including raising and assembling of orders on the Pharmacy computer system. To raise concerns regarding drug storage on the wards with the Pharmacy Distribution Manager.
* To assist in the addition of new products and bar codes to the Omnicell cabinets.
* To liaise with the supplier under supervision of the lead technician or IT/Data analyst regarding system issues and upgrades.
* To actively take part in the addition and deletion of items in the Omnicell cabinets and server.
* To assist in the assembly and checking of ward boxes for the distribution of pharmaceuticals to wards, departments and other units on all sites across the Trust.
* To participate in the daily stock discrepancy and investigation form and highlight discrepancies to the lead dispensary technician.
* To be responsible for the safe custody of the pharmacy stores.
* To participate in the storekeeping process within the pharmacy stores.
* To assist with temperature monitoring in Pharmacy and expiry date checking in Pharmacy and on the wards according to local policies and procedures.
* To keep accurate records associated with the function of pharmacy stores.
* To receive and direct, as appropriate, incoming telephone calls promptly and record messages accurately as required.
* To ensure that returned medicines to the department are dealt with promptly and efficiently, ensuring that the appropriate disposal procedures are followed and wastage is minimised.
* To assist in putting away stock into the dispensary at Wexham Park Hospital.
* To put stock away accurately on the Pharmacy stores shelves.
* To assist with the replenishment of drugs to the emergency cupboard and the replenishment of used or expired emergency boxes on the wards.
* To assist with the routine verification of stock levels to ensure accuracy and reliability of database information.
* To order, receive and store pharmaceutical products as required.
* To demonstrate Pharmacy Assistant duties to new members of staff.
* To work according to and within standard operating procedures.
* To assist in the dispensary as necessary.
* Any other duties as required by the Chief Pharmacist or his/her deputy.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Educated to GCSE or equivalent, to include English and Mathematics.
Desirable criteria
* Pharmacy Services NVQ level 2.
COMPETENCIES
Essential criteria
* Understanding of customer care.
* Understanding of stock control.
Desirable criteria
* Training in "Customer Care".
* Experience of working with a wide range of people.
SPECIALIST
Essential criteria
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Experience of orders, receipt and storage of goods.
* Basic Computer skills.
Desirable criteria
* Basic knowledge of pharmacy distribution workflow.
