Job Description We’re looking to increase our team with a Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon to add to a team of 3 Small Animal Vets, 5 Large Animal Vets, 3 Nurses and 2 Student Nurses. The role will include both small and large animal work. There will be a flexible mix of clinical work with dairy, beef, and sheep herds covering all veterinary requirements for beef and dairy herds, and sheep flocks, including Reproduction – Fertility and Scanning, Health Plans, Disease Investigations and many more opportunities to develop your client base. There will also be responsibility for customer and pet care as we offer a high medical and surgical caseload, and challenging trauma cases. You will have a grounding in all aspects of general practice with the opportunity for career progression. We are highly equipped (digital x-ray, lab suite, advanced ultrasound) for all medical and surgical investigations. We’re based in one of the oldest towns in Ireland, with easy access to Mourne Mountains, offering hiking, climbing, and breathtaking views. We’re also ideally located within an hour’s drive from both Dublin and Belfast. We also have exciting times ahead with a new practice opening on a part time basis in a nearby seaside town. The position is based between both of our surgeries in Newry Mourne and Down. The start date is immediate, making this new role available for candidates interested in either full-time or part-time work. Ideally, candidates will have two or more years of experience and may be working towards or already hold a certificate; however, we welcome applications from all skill levels. The on-call rota is shared equally among the vets, with the current schedule being one in six nights on call or less, and this is negotiable. The salary is competitive and increases with experience.
