Job Purpose
As a Procurement Manager you will have the opportunity to manage a range of commercial activities, including sourcing, strategic market management, supplier collaboration and commercial operations, whilst ensuring value for money for our customers and our continued commitment to North West, England.
Stakeholder collaboration is vital for this role. You will therefore need to build strong working relationships, manage key internal and external stakeholders effectively and ensure a full business partnering model, whilst maximising value and collaborating with experts to help UU achieve our goals.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Market Strategy: Craft integrated strategies for medium to high spend categories.
* Sourcing: Develop and undertake the Sourcing process (business requirement through to contract execution) for medium cost and business risk goods or services, influencing significant annual spend, managing all risk, legislative, and regulatory requirements.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Foster collaborative relationships for successful strategy execution.
* Market Recognition: Provide expert advice and introduce innovative solutions for a competitive edge.
* Negotiation: Lead negotiator of significant (multi-million pound) savings and benefits, working in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Degree-educated with a relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g., CIPS, RICS, MBA, MSC) OR equivalent knowledge/experience in a similar environment.
* Experience of creating and implementing spend category strategies.
* Sourcing experience, with a demonstrable track record of savings delivery.
* Knowledge of key category management processes, tools and methodologies.
* Proven level of negotiation and dispute resolution skill set.
If not already held, successful candidates will be supported to undertake the relevant level of study with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), funded by UU.
