This is a pivotal position within the company, working closely with the owner and occasionally representing them in client interactions. Role & Responsibilities of the Managing Director: Drive the overall business strategy and provide key operational updates and insights to the owner and senior team. Act as a core member of the senior management team, deputising for the owner when required. Confidently lead the business in the owner’s absence, maintaining seamless operations. Build and nurture relationships with clients at every level, including on a technical basis. Lead the execution of client contracts, services, and budgets, ensuring excellence in delivery and client satisfaction. Ensure top-quality operational outcomes, with timely project completion and high standards across the board. Champion a culture of safety and high performance throughout the supply chain and across all operational functions. Inspire, lead, and support the teams that contribute to manufacturing success and the customer experience. Develop meaningful partnerships with key clients and stakeholders to support business growth and strategic alignment. Carry out essential administrative tasks to support your strategic vision and ensure operational smoothness. About You as the Managing Director: A background in sheet metal engineering or fabrication—this is essential. A hands-on, inspirational leadership style that motivates teams and fosters a high-performance culture. Experience managing individuals who also have their own teams. The ability to adapt to various roles within a smaller business setting and confidently take on overall business leadership. Strong commercial acumen to shape strategic decisions and boost profitability. Solid financial skills with a deep understanding of P&L, forecasting, cash flow, cost management, and risk. Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
