DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING (DSP) ENGINEER
Title: Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer
Location: Gloucester, UK
Clearance: Must already hold enhanced UKIC DV Clearance
Overview:
Join a cutting-edge engineering team and play a vital role in advancing mission-critical communications technologies. As a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer, you will lead efforts in reverse engineering, DSP algorithm development, and integration of software-defined radio (SDR) platforms. Your work will directly support the design and deployment of advanced payloads and signal exploitation systems for Defence, Cyber, and Intelligence operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Reverse Engineering & Signal Analysis
* Conduct hardware, software, and RF signal reverse engineering to uncover vulnerabilities, assess capabilities, and identify opportunities for system enhancements.
Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Development
* Design, develop, and refine SDR solutions using advanced DSP techniques for communication, detection, and classification applications.
Algorithm R&D
* Create novel DSP algorithms to improve system performance in challenging environments, focusing on signal acquisition, modulation analysis, and signal exploitation.
Payload Engineering
* Develop and integrate DSP capabilities into custom payloads for communication and signal intelligence missions—ensuring scalability and future compatibility.
Testing & Validation
* Support rigorous system validation through lab-based evaluations, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and real-world field trials.
Collaborative Engineering
* Work closely with cross-functional teams—software engineers, RF designers, and hardware developers—to integrate DSP solutions into broader mission platforms.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Skills & Experience
* Must already hold enhanced UKIC DV Clearance
* Solid expertise in Digital Signal Processing, including algorithm design and real-time implementation.
* Proven experience in reverse engineering of RF systems, signals, or protocols.
* Hands-on experience with Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platforms and tools.
* Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, or related languages used in DSP/SDR development.
* Knowledge of modulation techniques, demodulation, and digital communications protocols.
* Experience in system testing, validation, and performance analysis.
Desirable Skills
* Familiarity with GNU Radio or similar SDR frameworks.
* Experience with FPGA/RFSoC development, particularly using VHDL or Verilog.
* Comfortable working in Linux environments and using collaborative tools like GitLab.
* Background in payload development for defence, cyber, or covert communications systems.
