Description
We are looking for a qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive to provide leadership and strong governance across our Legal, Democratic, Health, Safety and Emergency Planning Teams.
Supported by lead officers in each service, you will deliver on the Council’s ambitions to be a better connected Council providing advice and support to Senior Leadership Team on the Council’s plans and priorities, providing advice and support to our elected members and ensuring the smooth administration of elections and Council meetings. You will also act as the Deputy Monitoring Officer providing support and assistance to the deputy chief Executive and Monitoring Officer.

-a successful track record of managing teams and the performance of individuals
-experience of drafting and advising on policy documents or similar
-substantial experience of dealing with contentious or non-contentious legal matters
-a clear understanding and knowledge of the working of local government including its legal, constitutional, financial and political context
-a solid track recording of providing proactive, expert, timely and authoritative legal advice and support to senior leaders and key decision-makers at the highest level
-thorough and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of local government law
You will be someone with enthusiasm and excellent lawyering skills who can deliver on the team’s service plan and contribute to the wider delivery of the Gedling Plan.
There will be a requirement to attend evening meetings and you must be willing to travel within/outside the Borough when necessary to carry out your duties.
