Your Role as a Catering Tutor
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Catering Tutor to join our team at HMP/YOI Peterborough. In this rewarding role, you will support and inspire learners to achieve recognised catering qualifications, helping them develop valuable skills for future employment. Working closely with the Training, Skills & Employment Manager, you will develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to various abilities, ensuring each learner has the opportunity to succeed.
Beyond teaching, you will play a crucial role in challenging negative behaviours, fostering self-esteem, and supporting rehabilitation. Your efforts will directly contribute to improving employability prospects for prisoners, ultimately aiding in reducing reoffending rates. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and structured learning environment, adhering to relevant prison policies and procedures. With your guidance, learners will not only gain culinary expertise but also confidence and motivation to take positive steps forward.

The Ideal Candidate
* Full teaching qualification (Minimum CTLLS) or PGCE
* Experience delivering a Level 2 City & Guilds catering qualification
* Experience teaching in both classroom and one-to-one settings
* Catering qualifications or significant industry experience
* Food Safety and HACCP qualifications
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Passion for rehabilitation and offender resettlement
* Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours
* Assessor or IV qualification (or willingness to attain one)
* Experience working in a prison environment
