ASSISTANT MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (PERMANENT)

ABOUT YOU

The main purpose of this role is to provide support for the Finance Controller through taking ownership of the following business processes whilst adhering to accounting standards and meeting relevant deadlines.
* Sales Ledger / Purchase Ledger
* Management Accounts
* Banking
* VAT
* Fixed Assets
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Preparation of month end schedules, accruals, prepayments and intercompany recharges, ensuring that month end deadlines are met
* Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and board reports.
* Completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring balances are understood and queries rectified in a timely manner
* Perform cash book and bank reconciliations, including manual payments through banking software.
* Oversee the sales ledger to ensure that debt is recovered in a timely manner inline with the company’s credit control procedure.
* Assisting with the preparation of departmental and consolidated annual budgets
* Variance Analysis against Budget/Prior Month
* Maintaining fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
* Assist with the completion of VAT and Corporation Tax returns, ensuring external submission deadlines are met.
* Drive efficiency of financial processes via continuous improvement and identification of potential opportunities.
* Managing the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, payments, expense claims and receipts in accordance with month end deadlines
* Preparation of the weekly cash flow forecast across multiple entities and currencies
* Analyse costs related to operations and projects to identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts, adjusting for changes in business conditions.
* Ensure payroll submissions are processed monthly along with variance analysis
* Supporting the development and maintenance of effective relationships with stakeholders
* Support month-end and year-end closing processes
REPORTING TO
Financial Controller
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
* At least 3 years experience in a similar role is preferred
* AAT qualification or equivalent is essential
* CIMA part qualification or equivalent newly qualified - Desirable
* A positive attitude and desire to improve and learn.
* Excellent attention to detail and time management abilities
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Proficient in using accounting software (Xero preferred) and Microsoft Excel
* Confident communicator both verbally and written
* The ability to multitask and work independently as well as within a team.
