We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer with a strong background in wired networks, especially with a focus on Cisco products, though experience with other technologies may also be considered. You should possess experience in data network engineering, including design, installation, configuration, testing, optimization, and troubleshooting. A proven track record of supporting IT infrastructure projects within budget and on time, as well as familiarity with stakeholder and external supplier management in a multi-supplier environment, is essential. Additionally, we value candidates with technical experience in both on-premises and Cloud infrastructure solutions, as well as a solid understanding of wired, LAN, and WAN networks. Professional certifications such as CCNA, CWNA, CWSP, CWDP, or CWAP will be beneficial. You must also have knowledge of data network security elements including encryption, authentication, authorization, and monitoring.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will act as a lead specialist in various data networking technical domains, including wired, wireless, LAN, and WAN. You will collaborate with our team to develop and implement the data network strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with our organization’s vision and objectives. Your duties will include overseeing the lifecycle design, installation, configuration, testing, assurance, and optimization of the data network, focusing on performance, security, and high availability. You will manage daily data network operations, handling monitoring, reporting, and troubleshooting tasks, and coordinate data network projects impacting both clinical and non-clinical areas. Furthermore, you’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with data network policies and best practices, managing the data network budget, and maintaining relationships with third-party suppliers.
Location
This position is based in beautiful South Wales (Pontypridd) and requires you to be onsite four days a week, with some travel to different sites in the region. You’ll be part of a dedicated team of professionals and play a crucial role in developing and implementing our wireless network strategy and roadmap, which will have a significant impact on approximately 12,000 staff and over 400,000 individuals.
