C-17 Aircraft Structures Technician Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced C-17 Aircraft Structures Technician to join our team at RAF Brize Norton in Carterton, Oxfordshire.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £38,000 per annum for the technician role and £40,515.21 per annum for the supervisor role.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
* The ideal candidate will possess current working knowledge and experience of aircraft structural metal rectification on aircraft and in bay environments.
* They must be skilled in operating workshop machines and hand tools used in airframe structural work and metal repair.
* Strong problem-solving skills are required to work from engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions.
* Familiarity with IT systems is necessary for accessing technical information and maintenance records.
* The successful candidate will also need to document all work performed and maintain accurate records.
* Effective collaboration with other team members and departments is essential for efficient workflow and high-quality output.
* Ensuring correct certification and accurate record-keeping of repairs and rectification tasks is crucial.
Qualifications and Experience:
A recognised Civilian Engineering or Aviation BTEC/ONC/NVQ Level 3 qualification is required. Previous experience in Armed Forces or industry on aircraft engineering maintenance/repair activities is desirable.
Working Hours and Benefits:
The team works full-time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (7:30 – 17:00). They enjoy a 9-day fortnight schedule with 25 days' stand-down days per year and 25 days' leave plus 8 bank holidays.
Workplace Information:
The structures bay is responsible for C-17 aircraft airframe structural and composite repairs, metal fabrication, and damage assessments. Work is carried out within the hangar and on the line, often requiring work at height and in confined spaces.
