Job Title: Early Years Teaching Assistant Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Contract Type: Long-term role with potential to go permanent Leader Education is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Wakefield. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about supporting children in their early years of education, fostering their learning, development, and well-being. Responsibilities: Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate activities in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Assist with small group work and 1:1 support, ensuring all children receive the guidance they need. Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where children feel safe and encouraged to explore. Help with classroom organisation, setting up play-based learning activities, and preparing resources. Support children with early literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. Promote positive behaviour and social development through structured and free-play activities. Observe and document children's progress, sharing insights with teachers and parents as needed. Uphold safeguarding policies and ensure the well-being of all children in the setting. The Successful Candidate Will Have: Experience working within an Early Years setting (nursery or reception class). A Level 2 or 3 Early Years or Teaching Assistant qualification (or relevant experience). A warm, nurturing, and patient approach to supporting young children. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage children in learning through play. Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
